This is a wonderful illuminated globe mounted on a wooden base and valued for its golden hued orb and meticulous craftsmanship and detail of the bronzed serpent which ingeniously supports the world. Coated paper gores over glass, lighted from within with pull-chain switch (originally-see condition section). This magnificent nautical themed globe is one of the most desirable terrestrial globes, often only to be viewed in Museums, including the National Library of Austria in Vienna. Ornate Art Nouveau details with bronze and copper accents provide a sophisticated elegance to this masterpiece. This globe illustrates the political reality of 1948 with the new country of Israel highlighted.
    Dimensions: 14" high (26.7 cm) to top of the tail x 10 1//2" diameter globe. Base 8 3/8" x 6 13/16". Cord is 6' long. Weight 6 lbs. 6 oz..
Condition: Good vintage condition. Lamp is in good working condition. Nothing broken or repaired other than the light switch pull chain which I replaced with a new (vintage) pull chain as the original pull was missing. Original patina. All original components (except pull chain). Some detail loss best described through the photographs. Please refer closely to all photographs for more condition information.
